Update # 3 - Colorado Trip - Helmets

Everyone is wearing one. . . What is it? . . . You bet, it's a helmet. We'll all be taking one and wearing it while skiing in CO. If you need one, be sure you stop by the equipment closet to try one on.

Update #2 - Colorado Trip

Ski bag and Hiking Boots
. Just a reminder before we generate the "official" packing list, everyone will need to have a pair of well fitting hiking boots and a ski bag to transport your telemark skis & poles.

Hiking Boots - Since we will be hiking, as much as or more than skiing, boots are important. If you have a pair already, double check for fit, give them a cleaning and if leather, recondition them with some waterproofing. If you don't have a pair, perhaps you can borrow a pair from family or friends. Make sure you spend some time "breaking 'em in."

Ski Bag - We have a few extra ski bags to lend, but if you already have one, great. Since we'll be limited to 2 checked bags and one carry on, be sure to tuck other things into the ski bag with your skis and poles. Make sure to waterproof anything you put in the ski bag with a zip-lock bag. Items like socks, gloves, etc are a few things that work well.

Reminder - your packing list suggestions are due by Monday 4/30.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 2 - activity period

Update #1 - Senior Maymester - Intro to Ski Mountaineering

Our Trip is getting closer.

- The photo above will be our "base camp." This "A-frame," is conveniently located in Tennessee Pass (just north of Leadville, CO) at 10,500 ft, with views of Ski Cooper and Mt. Massive. From this location we will ski and hike the local area as well as further afield.

- We hope you are all keeping up all you class work and looking forward to our trip to Colorado.

- Tribeca Film Festival. Steep is premiering at Tribeca on April 28. Sounds like a great ski mountaineering movie.

- We welcome your input in creating a packing list. So send us your "submissions" by Monday 4/30.

- Are you staying fit???? If you are not already involved in a fitness regime at the moment, get busy. We will be at altitude in CO and the fitter you are, the happier your will be.
